Tea time calculator
The calculator is based on experimental data, and the temperature will likely vary with different cups. Please make sure your beverage is not too hot for consumption before drinking its contents.
What's the difference between the cups
The small porcelain cup has a volume of aproximately 300ml.
The large porcelain cup has a volume of aproximately 500ml.
How was the calculator created?
Data was gathered by measuring the temperature in the center of the cup at 30 second intervals. A thermometer was suspended with its tip in the approximate center of the cup using a piece of string. The measurements seem to have been a bit inaccurate for the first few measurements. This could be due to the thermometer still heating up.
Polynomial regression was used to create a function giving the approximate wait time for an input temperature.
